About Alaskan Experience Guide Service

My name is Jon Kluck. I have been a fly-fishing guide in the Bristol Bay area since 1998. I originally came to Bristol Bay to commercial fish for
Sockeye salmon. When the commercial season was over, I met a friend who worked as a guide on the Naknek River. It sounded to me like my dream job. He hired me two days later. Since then I have worked with and learned from many talented guides. I have always enjoyed honing the techniques to consistently catch fish and put smiles on faces. I have worked for lodges that ranged from all-inclusive to local hotels. The experience I have gained through the years has helped me to provide quality outdoor adventures for many people. One of the main reasons I chose guiding as a profession is the people I meet. I truly enjoy sharing my days with friends old and new. I am also a fishing addict. I grew up in rural South Dakota where my dad taught me to hunt and fish. It is no surprise to my family that I ended up where I am, doing what I'm doing. My fondest childhood memories all involve the outdoors.

In the past, I have migrated South in the off-season, but my thoughts were never very far from the next summer in Alaska. There was always something new to see or do here. I learned to fly-fish in Alaska, and as far as I am concerned there is no better place to learn than the rivers of Bristol Bay. The abundance of fish in the area make it a rewarding experience while you try to perfect your cast. For the past three winters, I worked for the Oregon Department Of Fish and Wildlife. I was conducting spawning surveys on Coho Salmon and Steelhead streams. This job allowed me to use my degree in biology and to be outdoors year-round. It also allowed me time to study fish habits, experience that I use every day on the water. After the 2006 season, I made Alaska my home. So I hope you'll check us out and join us here on the water.
