This area sustains some of the worlds most productive salmon fisheries.The Naknek River in King Salmon, Alaska is our home water, it flows out of Naknek Lake and Katmai National park. The Naknek is home to all five species of Pacific Salmon including:King,Silver, Sockeye, Chum and Pink. Throughout the season we use a variety of methods to catch salmon, trolling, casting, and flyfishing. Naknek River King Salmon fishing is generally done from the boat because the river is quite large. For Silver Salmon fishing we do some wading as well as fish from the boat. Silver salmon flyfishing can be phenominal, these fish are very receptive to fly presentations. Sockeye Salmon fishing is generally done wading or from the shore with spinning or flyfishing gear.
Alaska provides trout fishing that is unique in many ways. To share a trout stream with Alaskan Brown bears is one experience you'll never forget. You will see bears working hard to get fat built up for the long winter. There is also the fish, that on some streams are so numerous your arms will be wore out at the end of the day. Along with numbers of fish, they just grow big here. Alaska is a fly-fishing paradise and we live in it. Trout in Alaska like the bears depend on the salmon as a large part of their diet. Trout feed on salmon at every stage of their life cycle(eggs, fry,smolt,flesh). Trout grow big here because this rich diet. Alaska trout fishing is also remarkable because of the amount of pristine habitat. At times in Alaska you will feel as though you are on another planet. Sometimes being in places so beautiful you forget why you are there.
